Guided Sea Kayak Tours Info

Rapid Kayaking offers the opportunity to go and explore. Get close and interact with the Wild Atlantic scenery, bird and animal life. Enjoy the possibility of paddling into caves, through sea arches to rocky reefs or along the beautiful picturesque coastline of west Donegal in which the west coast of Ireland is famous for. The aim of our kayak tours is to get onto the Atlantic ocean with the challenge of getting to wild remote places and wild islands in Donegal where time has stood still whilst having an unforgettable adventure along the way.

Information

Kayak tours are physically challenging and a good level of fitness and water confidence is needed to take part. Our sit-in guided sea kayak tours sometimes go to some of the most remote parts of the Donegal coastline and Islands. The distances covered and sea conditions can be challenging.  The sea kayak tour can run anywhere along the Donegal seaboard to best suit the prevailing sea and weather conditions.

Motion sickness can be a problem regarding the sea kayak tours as some tours have been shortened or brought to a halt due to motion sickness and poor fitness levels as these full day sea kayak trips can encounter some bumpy seas.

All tours are weather dependent. We try not to cancel tours except in the event of bad weather conditions or exceptional circumstances. Locations and start times for the Sea Kayak Tours are varied and there are no set venues or operating start times. This is due to the ever changing prevailing weather/sea conditions ( wind, tide and Atlantic swell ).

Our guided sea kayak tours are run anywhere between Slieve League and Horn Head along the west coast and the islands of Donegal. Kayak tours are planned to make best use of sea/weather conditions at the time.

Sea kayak tours are only suitable for adults and older teens ( 14 years and over depending on sea and weather conditions ) and therefore are not suitable for young children. Small groups (max 6 persons). Advance booking is essential.

The maximum sea kayak paddler weight limit is 95kg. All equipment for the tours is supplied inc wetsuits, footwear, paddling jacket, buoyancy aid and helmet.

Please bring a towel, lunch / food and a drink for the journey.

The Kayak Instructor is trained, qualified and updated (Level 3 Sea kayak Instructor) and insured through the British Canoe Association.

Prices for the sea kayaking tours are €65 per person duration of the trip is 4/5 hours.

Rapid Kayaking cannot take any responsibility for people’s personal equipment eg. glasses, phones, cameras etc that may be brought along on a tour.
